For several years Mr. Price managed and directed the very popular Sidewalk Art Show on Broad Street.
William Webb Price, senior member of the architectural firm of Price & Dickey, Media, Pa., died Monday, April 24, at his home on Price Lane, Rose Valley, after a long illness. He was 69. Mr. Price, a devoted member of Nantucket’s summer colony, did many things in Nantucket. He has been seen many times in the summer theater on the island, playing important roles and doing them complete justice. He was an artist in his own right and exhibited his paintings on the island. Mr. Price taught at Buckingham Friends and Friends Central Schools. As an actor, Mr. Price played over 200 roles in the professional and amateur theater. He was active in the Hedgerow Theater in Moylan, Pa., for 11 years and played summer stock theaters in Nantucket and Delaware. He also appeared in Broadway productions.
As a noted architect, Mr. Price designed the library at Lincoln University and a number of churches and homes in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and Massachusetts.
A native of Philadelphia, he was graduated from Swarthmore College and was one of the first six men to go to France in 1917 with the American Friends Reconstruction Unit, the forerunner of the American Friends Service Committee.
He also was a senior member of Actor’s Equity Association and was president and chairman of the board of the Wallingford Art Center, Wallingford, Pa.
