“As a landscape painter, I draw most of my inspiration from the natural world and try to capture the beauty I find in nature. I then enhance this beauty through the use of thoughtful composition, editing out of non-essential details, dramatization of darks and lights, and color enhancement achieved through the juxtaposition of complementary colors. Rather than merely copying what I see, I attempt to add an element of poetry and personal expression to my perceptions of the world. Throughout the process I am primarily attentive to the nuances of the ambient atmosphere and to the unique effect that light has upon the landscape I am depicting.”
