I have been a multidisciplinary artist all my life: designing home interiors, planning Nantucket Island weddings, photography, marketing, graphic design, cooking and raising my daughter in the past 30 years on this magical island. My parents have been my greatest source of inspiration as mother was an art teacher and my father dabbled in woodworking.
My BFA is in graphic design and fashion photography from Ohio Wesleyan University fueled my creative ambitions right from the start. I also studied retail, marketing, and European and British theatre in London through Syracuse University. In New York City I studied with Nikon and completed an internship with Conde Nast as the assistant to a fashion editor of a trade issue along with WWD and W.
I am a self taught painter and believe that all my past experiences have provided me with the tools to see things differently. My process begins with setting up a still life which I photograph and I use these photos as direct inspiration for my paintings which allow me to study the vignette in detail and enable my work to reflected the need for order and realism. Recently I have begun combining photography and paint to create collages. Art is an absolute necessity for my well being.
