Jennifer Wyman Bowman received a BA from Dartmouth College, a Certificate of Interior Design from The New School and a Master of Architecture from the University of Colorado. Jen resides and photographs in Westport, CT and Nantucket, MA and travels extensively with camera in hand.
Jen’s career began with residential interior design then architecture in New York City and eventually evolved into more than 15 years as a graphic artist. All the while, she has pursued an artistic passion for photography that she developed early on as a student. The common thread of all of Jen’s design training is the ability to truly see spatial relationships and to understand color, scale and layout. Jen is obsessed with art and beautiful spaces. She infuses all of her design experience into her approach to photography.
Landscape and art photographer Jennifer Wyman Bowman is deeply inspired by Nantucket’s breathtaking beauty, and is continually drawn to two of her great loves, flowers and the ocean. Her early morning explorations of dunes, sky, sea and gardens feed her soul and inspire her work.
Through her Hydrangea Series, Jen aspires to capture the exquisite color, beauty and variety of the hydrangea petals by magnifying their details and three-dimensional relationships. Playing with scale, she curates an unexpected graphic quality and freshness. The hydrangeas themselves become art; her hope is that the viewer is as awed by their loveliness as she is.
Jen’s Seascapes study the simultaneous vastness, subtlety, and layering of sea, sky and horizon. Jen is profoundly awed by the connection of light and emotion.
