Shane McClatchey is an emerging artist working, exhibiting, and teaching in Southern California. Inspired by surfing, diving, and lifeguarding, Shane’s paintings search out a balance between curiosity and vulnerability, internal and external realities, ocean and land. These fleeting boundaries echo in his studio practice, as he negotiates form and shape in positive and negative space. Shane received both his BFA and MFA in Painting at Laguna College of Art and Design, where he was mentored by contemporary figurative master painters such as F. Scott Hess and John Brosio. Shane teaches Figure Drawing at Citrus College and California School of the Arts. He is represented by Main Street Gallery in Manasquan, New Jersey.
