Susan Byrn Anderson is a southern girl who loves a good New England summer. Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, Susan studied art history at Vanderbilt University, but summers spent at her husband’s family home in Nantucket are what inspired her own work.
“I was simply amazed by the beauty of God’s creation…the constantly changing colors of the sky, the way that light affects the landscapes and seascapes, and the abundant flowers that bloom throughout the summer. I wanted to capture these images and hold onto them.”
Susan began painting gifts for family members and giving her miniature paintings to her Nantucket houseguests as a memento from their visit. Her acrylic paintings include vibrant colors, a variety of brushstrokes, palette knife work, and a range of sizes.
Nantucket summers, European travels, and scenes from around her home in Georgia continue to inspire Susan’s love of painting. Her subject matter includes inspiration from nature with florals and coastal landscapes – and the occasional appearance by Susan’s beloved French bulldog, Beau.
Susan is a member of the Dunwoody Fine Art Association and the Artists Association of Nantucket. Her current and past exhibitions include the Artists Association of Nantucket Seward Johnson Gallery, the Dunwoody United Methodist Church Library, the Harpeth Hall School Alumnae Exhibit, the Roswell Fine Arts Alliance, and Trinity School Spotlight on Art.
